Tonight Skinny Me participated in the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey® Guinness World Records The BIGGEST Shaving Cream Pie Fight On Earth! It was pretty much amazing!
Shaving cream was everywhere!
I made the Guinness Book of World Records! I might not be mentioned by name as there were over 684 people there, but I will always have the memories of smashing shaving cream pies and the sting of it in my own eyes. :)
What will be the next record to break? I don't know....
What record would you want to break?

Skinny Me and the Platelicker
I have a cat. She's a cranky old cat, but she's mine and I love her. Her name is Chloe.
However, she believes that it is her birthright to have any chicken that is served in our home. I'll admit, I'm partly to blame for this, but she did come to me this way. I "picked my battles" and never broke her of it.
Anyway, I found a wonderful way to ensure that I don't go back for seconds... leave my plate (which was previously filled with roast chicken breast, cauliflower and potatoes) on the couch and less than 2 minutes after setting it down, the plate licker approaches! Voila! Since I hate to create unnecessary dishes, there goes any desire for seconds! I shall file this under "techniques to use when I've had a nice tasty dinner and don't need more but want more."

Skinny Me vs the vacation
Skinny Me went on vacation with good intentions.
Vacations usually mean fast food, junk food in the car and tons of sugar. I tried to be good this time and keep Skinny Me in mind at all times.
As I headed off to visit a sister in Arkansas (she's prego with twins and has a 1 year old daughter) I took a huge bag of fresh veggies with me to eat and share while I was there. It was a great idea! I had oranges and tons of water in the car and even got some nuts (better than chips....or at least I told myself that). The 6 hour road trip there wasn't too bad. But oh boy, trying to stay on a diet while visiting a prego sister and her family is hard!
Pizza, cupcakes, Ice cream, pasta, burgers, barbecue, I haven't eaten this stuff in over a month and I ate it all in the past 5 days! It was yummy, but my tummy is ready for more veggies. The last night there I convinced my sister that we should have chicken and fresh steamed veggies. She wanted to include mashed potatoes, and so we had a delicious dinner!
Skinny Me will know how to deal with vacation. I am just going to work out this week.
Skinny Me learned that doing nothing is the sure way to never reach a goal.

Skinny Me will still get sick...unfortunately
For the past 3 days I've been experience what shall hereby be called, "Revenge of the Shrimp."
Good news: I've lost 9 pounds.
Bad news: Once I finally eat again, I'll probably gain it all back.
However, this made me think about the choices I made while I was sick. Reality check: When 90% of what you're eating is immediately expelled from your body, it's okay to eat sugared jello. In fact, it's really important to eat things that will ensure you don't get dehydrated. So here's my official list of things to eat when recovering from food-borne illness:
Broth
Green Jello (yes. something is magical in the green one)
Saltines
Diet Ginger Ale
Fruit Juices
Oatmeal
Toast
Applesauce
Bananas
Things to avoid:
Dairy
High fiber foods
High fat foods
High sugar foods (except jello, again, it's magical)

Skinny Me and the Battle of the Butterfinger
Two weeks ago I saw a Butterfinger on my bosses desk. That was the week of the horrible juice fast (we'll talk about that once we recover from it). Each time I go into her office, that Butterfinger is still sitting there.
I've been thinking about that butterfinger for two weeks. I've resisted the urge for two weeks. Granted, I was sick for the past three days, but even as I worshipped the porcelain god, I still thought about that Butterfinger.
Today I didn't eat breakfast. Big Mistake. HUGE mistake. I came into work and saw the butterfinger again. I went to the bookstore to get a diet sprite (yes, a non-caffeinated option) and saw the box of Butterfingers.
I wished they sold mini-butterfingers, but not in huge packages full of more calories than the single bar. I rationalized that I could buy the bar and eat half. This would be better than eating all of it.
I WANT TO EAT THE BUTTERFINGER.

But now what do I do with the other half? How would the other half feel if I simple discarded it in the trash?
Skinny me would throw it away.
Not-so-skinny me has decided to keep it for another day. Perhaps this is why skinny me is not here quite yet...

Skinny Me will go to Texas Rangers games
and not eat a hot dog!
In my discovery of Skinny Me I find social outings to be one of the most difficult situations. It is hard to go to a baseball game and not want peanuts, popcorn, cracker jacks, hot dogs, fries, nachos, lemon chills...... and all thewonderful horrible food they sell there. But it smells so good!!
I tried to prepare today, I brought an orange and peanuts with me... but my dinner was't enough and going into the 6th inning after 2.5 hours, I was hungry and had a hot dog. It wasn't even tasty, and it cost $4.50!!
Preparation is key to success in these situations. When you will be going somewhere make a plan. Choose what would be the best option if you will need to eat, or better yet bring enough healthy snacks to get you through. Skinny Me won't ever eat a ball park hot dog again!

Skinny Me will eat Sweet Potato and Carrot Fries
I love fries. I love them so very much...however, Skinny Me needs to lay off the fries for a bit. This week we made our own fries- out of sweet potatoes and carrots! And can I just say, they are delish!
Look at how pretty they are!
To make Orange Fries
2 sweet potatoes
6 carrots
Tone's Rosemary Garlic Seasoning (or your seasoning of choice)
Sea Salt
2 T Olive oil
Preheat your oven to 400F. Chop the potatoes and carrots into nice sticks. The more even the sticks, the less you'll end up with burnt ones (but then, I like the crispy ones!). Toss the sticks in the olive oil and seasoning. Sprinkle with sea salt. Bake for about 20 minutes. Turn over and cook for 20 more. I like mine a little soft, so you might want to cook it longer.
A word about the seasoning....a little goes a loooong way. This is one of my kitchen staples- I use it on everything: chicken, fish, potatoes, veggies.. I love it!
